DALLAS – Extending color beyond the stage in a house of worship is an effective way to engage church-goers believes Marcus Hammond. A consultant with Stark Raving Solutions, Hammond knows whereof he speaks. He has helped churches of all sizes create more immersive environments by color coordinating house and stage lighting.
Hammond will be offering tips on creating more immersive color environments in a WFX learning sessions sponsored by CHAUVET Professional. The 45-minute session, “Color Immersion Beyond The Stage,” takes place pace on Thursday, October 12 from 8:30 to 9:15 am in room C-145 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas as part of the WFX Conference and Expo.
Drawing on examples of churches he’s worked with, Hammond will cover a range of topics, including LED color mixing techniques, the emotional power of different colors, cost-effective ways to colorize areas beyond the stage and the keys to creating a unified design that balances stage and house lighting.
Prior to joining Stark Raving Solutions, Hammond was the technical director of the 9,000-member Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Kansas City. He is the author of numerous papers and articles on lighting and scenic design.
“As a company that has devoted a great deal of its energy and efforts into developing color rendering LED fixtures, we are pleased to sponsor Marcus’ learning session,” said Albert Chauvet. “Color is key to setting the atmosphere in any environment, and we’re happy to be involved in an educational effort that shows churches how to use the tools available to them.”
